Semtech's Sensing Platform Awarded 'Most Innovative ADC' by EN-Genius: Leading Website for Electronics Design Engineers Names Semtech's
CAMARILLO, Calif. (Business Wire EON) January 17, 2008 -- The award is part of the site's annual "Product of the Year" awards that honored 29 different products selected by the site's editors from the hundreds of products that were reviewed during 2007. The site's editorial team selected products they believe "will make significant bottom line numbers for the companies involved" because of their strong technical merit, design innovation and marketability.
The SX8724 uses Semtech's ZoomingADC(TM) signal amplification circuitry to directly connect to up to six sensors including pressure, temperature and magnetic sensors, making it one of the most versatile data acquisition devices available. The ZoomingADC is a 10-bit preamplifier with a programmable gain of between 0.1 and 1,000 and a 16-bit ADC allowing a designer to amplify the signal being sensed to achieve a given level of sensitivity using lower cost sensors.
In writing about the product in December 2007, the editors said: "We see, regularly, the purchase of unnecessarily higher resolution ADCs because the design engineer cannot get the numbers in order. The implementation (of the SX8724) is superb. The part should do fabulously well and we will see it in many pressure and temperature sensor applications, particularly portable." The article can be found on the EN-Genius.net site at: http://www.en-genius.net/site/zones/acquisitionZONE/product_reviews/ acqp_120307 (Due to its length, this URL may need to be copied/pasted into your Internet browser's address field. "Our customers tell us that they are deriving a lot of value from the SX8724 both from the flexibility of the part, as well as the ability to user lower-cost sensors without impacting the precision of the application," said Michel Chevroulet, Sensing Product Group Manager for Semtech's Wireless and Sensing Products Business Unit. "We are excited to receive recognition of this value from the editors at EN-Genius.net."
